Comments
When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the data provided in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. This information helps us detect and prevent spam.
An anonymized string generated from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available here. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if provided) will be visible to the public alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to our site can download and extract location data from such images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our website, you can opt-in to save your name, email, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience, allowing you to avoid re-entering details for future comments. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we set up cookies to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be saved in your browser. It includes no personal data and indicates the post ID of the edited article. This cookie expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Our website may include embedded content (e.g., videos, articles, or social media posts). This embedded content behaves just as it would if you visited the originating website.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, track your interactions, and monitor your activity with their content, particularly if you are logged into those sites.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them in moderation.
For users who register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their information at any time (with the exception of their username). Administrators can also access and manage this information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to delete your data, excluding information we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be processed through an automated spam detection service to ensure the integrity of our site.
